I would fall a lot and sprain my ankles a lot; my mom started to get annoyed because she had to take time from her busy day to take me to a chiropractor. She would say "This is ridiculous. You sprain your ankle almost everyday." She finally took me to the doctor and the doctor said that I most likely had a neuromuscular disease. The doctors did a CT scan and a MRI to put a name on it; it was Friedreich's Ataxia. My parents are hardworking people from Mexico. Their salary is average, but they have to buy a lot of special equipment that insurance doesn't cover. The most expensive item that must be purchased is a handicapped van, which can be upwards of $50,000. Currently, my sister and I rarely leave the house because we don't want to keep hurting my parents; they have to transfer us into and out of the car/truck. My dad already has a cracked disk in his back from lifting us.
When we have doctors appointments, I take CityLink or Sooner Ride, but sometimes I forget to reserve rides and my dad has to take me. My sister doesn't like taking them, so my mom and dad almost always have to take her, but it's getting to be too hard for them now.
